This Privacy Policy describes how St. Joseph Boat Rentals LLC ("we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you visit our website or book a rental.
Information we collect
- Contact details — your name, email address, and mobile phone number, provided when you book.
- Booking details — the boat, dates, party size, and any notes you share with us.
- Payment information — payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number; we retain only a payment reference and, where you authorize it, a saved payment method for damage holds and post-trip charges.
- Photo ID — where required for rental verification, a photo of your government-issued ID. ID images are stored securely and deleted 90 days after your rental.
- Signed documents — your electronic signature and acknowledgment of our rental agreement and related documents.
- Messages — a log of the booking-related emails and text messages we send you, kept for customer-service and audit purposes.
How we use your information
We use your information solely to operate your rental: confirming and managing bookings, processing payments, meeting insurance and safety requirements, sending the booking-related messages described below, and responding when you contact us. We do not sell your personal information.
Text messages (SMS)
If you opt in at checkout, we send transactional text messages about your booking: a booking confirmation, a reminder before your trip, and payment alerts if an issue arises with your payment. Message frequency varies by booking. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time, or HELP for help.
Mobile phone numbers and SMS opt-in consent are not sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes.
Sharing with service providers
We share information only with the service providers required to operate our business — payment processing (Stripe), text-message delivery (Twilio), email delivery and secure hosting (Amazon Web Services) — and only to the extent needed to provide those services. We may also disclose information when required by law.
Data retention and security
Booking and customer records are retained as required for accounting, insurance, and legal purposes. Photo-ID images are deleted 90 days after the rental. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
Children
Our services are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Renters must meet the legal minimum age to book.
Your choices
You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or request deletion (subject to records we must keep by law) by contacting info@stjosephboatrentals.com or (269) 313-5336. You can opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP.

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date above reflects the current version. Material changes will be posted on this page.
