About Big Fish Lake

What people use Big Fish Lake for.

Big Fish Lake is in eastern Cass County, near Marcellus. It's a small natural lake of about 175 acres, paired loosely with Little Fish Lake a short distance away — the names tell you what locals come for.

Largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, and northern pike are the common catches. Big Fish runs deep enough in the central basin to hold fish through the summer heat, and the weed beds along the shoreline give bass plenty of cover. It's a popular ice-fishing spot in winter as well.

The lake is mostly ringed with cottages and a few small resorts, with a public access point on the north side. We deliver pontoons to private docks on Big Fish and route from the launch when there's no shore access. It's a good lake for a slower-paced day — calm water, steady fishing, and not the crowds you get on Diamond or Magician.
