About Long Lake
What people use Long Lake for.
Long Lake is in southern Cass County, near Vandalia. As the name suggests, it's a long, narrow lake — about three miles end to end and relatively narrow across, which gives it a different feel from the rounder inland lakes nearby.
The shape works well for water skiing and tubing in the long open stretches, and the narrower ends offer quieter water for kayaks, paddleboards, and a slower pontoon cruise. Largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, and northern pike are the common catches. The DNR has stocked walleye over the years, and the deeper sections hold them through the summer.
We deliver pontoons to private docks on Long Lake and route from the public access point when needed. The drive from St. Joseph runs about an hour. Vandalia and Cassopolis are both close by for gas, groceries, or a meal.
