About Rush Lake

What people use Rush Lake for.

Rush Lake is a small inland lake in southwestern Berrien County, in the area between Buchanan and Niles. It's a quiet residential lake — mostly cottages and year-round homes around the shore, with limited public access.

Largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, and a smaller population of northern pike are the common catches. The lake is shallow enough that the weed beds dominate, which makes the panfishing reliable through the summer.

For day rentals, Rush is a calm-water lake — a good fit for a pontoon cruise, kayaks, or paddleboards rather than water skiing. We deliver pontoons to private docks on Rush. It's one of the closer lakes to our home dock in St. Joseph, which makes it convenient as a half-day rental if you're staying in southwestern Berrien County.
