About Bankson Lake

What people use Bankson Lake for.

Bankson Lake sits in northern Van Buren County, a few miles north of Lawton. It's a mid-sized inland lake of around 230 acres with a public launch on the south end and a quieter, mostly residential shoreline.

The fishing is the main reason locals know the lake. It's stocked and surveyed by the Michigan DNR, and largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, and northern pike all show up consistently. Walleye are present too — the deeper holes on the east side are where they tend to sit. Ice fishing is popular through the winter.

For day-on-the-water rentals, Bankson is forgiving. The water stays calm enough for kayaks and paddleboards, and there's room for tubing and pontoon cruising without it feeling crowded. We deliver to private docks and route from the public launch when you don't have shore access.
