About Cedar Lake

What people use Cedar Lake for.

Cedar Lake is in northern Van Buren County, between Gobles and Pine Grove. It's a mid-sized inland lake of around 250 acres with a mix of cottages, year-round homes, and a small public access point on the south end.

The lake fishes well. Largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, and northern pike are the common catches, with the weed beds on the north end producing reliably for bass through summer. The DNR has stocked walleye in the past as well. Ice fishing keeps locals on the lake through winter.

For a day on the water, Cedar is forgiving. There's enough open water for tubing and a leisurely pontoon cruise, and the calmer coves work for kayaks and paddleboards. We deliver to private docks on Cedar and route from the public launch when needed. The drive from St. Joseph runs about an hour, so it works as a half-day trip.
