About Dayton Lake

What people use Dayton Lake for.

Dayton Lake is a small lake in southwestern Berrien County, near the village of Dayton between Niles and Berrien Springs. It's a quiet residential lake — mostly cottages and a few year-round homes around the shore, with limited public access.

The lake holds the usual mix for a Berrien County inland lake: largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, and a smaller population of northern pike. The shallow ends fish well for panfish, and the deeper middle section holds bass through summer.

Dayton is on the smaller side, which makes it a good fit for a calm day rather than a high-activity rental. Kayaks, paddleboards, and a pontoon cruise all work; there's not really room for water skiing. We deliver pontoons to private docks on Dayton — it's about twenty minutes from our home dock in St. Joseph, which makes it one of the closer drop-off lakes we serve.
