About Dewey Lake
Dewey Lake is the largest of the Sister Lakes — about 225 acres, with depths near fifty feet and a sandy bottom that makes the swimming good. It's an all-sports lake, so motorboats, jet skis, pontoons, and paddleboards all share the water. The cottages along the shore have been here for a hundred years; the Sister Lakes vacation tradition really started on Dewey.
For fishing, Dewey holds largemouth bass, black crappie, bluegill, and yellow perch. It fishes well from a boat or off the docks, and the deeper basins are productive in the morning before the lake gets busy. Local anglers also know it for the family of bald eagles that nests near the north end.
A few things to know before you book. The lake gets busy on summer weekends, so an early-morning or weekday rental is usually a quieter experience. Wakeboarding and tubing are popular, but the no-wake zones near the shoreline are well-marked and enforced. We deliver pontoons to private docks anywhere on Dewey.
If you're a fan of folklore, Dewey is also the lake where the Dewey Lake Monster was reported in 1964 — a Bigfoot-like figure that became enough of a local legend that it still shows up at the annual boat parade.
