About Sister Lakes

What people use Sister Lakes for.

"Sister Lakes" is the unincorporated community in the southwest corner of Keeler Township, and the name refers to the chain of inland lakes the village sits between — Dewey, Magician, Big and Little Crooked, Round, and Cable. Each lake has its own character, and we deliver pontoons to all of them.

The Potawatomi used these lakes for fishing and travel long before European settlers arrived in the mid-1800s. By the early 1900s, summer cottages were going up along Dewey, Magician, and the Crooked Lakes — many of those cottages are still in the same families today, which is part of why Sister Lakes still feels more like a neighborhood than a resort destination.

Each lake fishes differently. Dewey is the largest and busiest — bass, bluegill, northern pike, walleye. Magician is calmer and good for solo fishing trips. Big Crooked is built for tubing and water skiing; Little Crooked is the quieter one. Round Lake is family-friendly with shallow swimming areas, and Cable Lake is the smallest and most peaceful.

If you're staying in the area for a few days, ask us about lake-hopping — the lakes are close enough together that a multi-day rental on one dock can easily turn into a tour of the chain.
