About Magician Lake

What people use Magician Lake for.

Magician Lake is in the Sister Lakes cluster, just east of Dowagiac. It's the calmer of the bigger lakes in the chain — wide-open enough for water skiing and wakeboarding when conditions are right, but quiet enough most days for paddleboards, kayaks, and a long pontoon cruise.

The shoreline is a mix of cottages and forest. There are a few public access points and plenty of private docks, which is where most of our drop-off rentals end up. The lake fishes well — bass, bluegill, and panfish are common, and the calm coves along the eastern shore are good places to anchor and cast.

For boating, Magician's open layout makes it forgiving for first-time captains. Mornings are quiet — the wind picks up most afternoons, which is why the water-skiing crowd usually gets out early. Sunset cruises here are worth it for the way the light hits the western shore.

We deliver pontoons to private docks on Magician. If you're staying in the area for several days, the lake connects easily to Dewey and the Crooked Lakes, so a single rental can tour the chain.
