About Hutchins Lake

Hutchins Lake is in central Allegan County, near Fennville. It's a mid-sized inland lake of around 380 acres with a state-run public launch and a mostly residential shoreline of cottages and year-round homes.
The fishing is the lake's draw. Largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, and northern pike are the common catches, with a walleye population that the DNR has stocked over the years. The weed beds on the south end fish reliably for bass and panfish, and the deeper basins on the north end hold pike. Ice fishing is popular through the winter.
For boating, Hutchins is forgiving. There's enough open water for a pontoon cruise and some tubing, and the calmer stretches work for kayaks and paddleboards. We deliver pontoons to private docks on Hutchins and route from the public launch when shore access isn't an option. Fennville is a few minutes off the lake.
