About Paw Paw Lake

What people use Paw Paw Lake for.

Paw Paw Lake is in Berrien County between Coloma and Watervliet, about twenty minutes north of our dock in St. Joseph. It's one of the bigger inland lakes we serve — about 857 acres, nearly eleven miles of shoreline, and depths reaching close to ninety feet — which means there's room for almost anything you'd want to do on a boat.

For fishing, the depth and the healthy weed beds give it a strong fish population. Largemouth and smallmouth bass, northern pike, walleye, crappie, yellow perch, and bluegill all show up regularly. Anglers who know the lake fish the weed lines and drop-offs for bass and pike, and head deeper for walleye in the early morning or evening.

Public access is good. Sunset Park has a launch on the west end, and the Paw Paw Lake Boat Ramp handles bigger boats. We deliver pontoons to private docks anywhere on the lake — just give us your address at booking and we'll route from the closest launch.

The lake supports the full spread of activities — pontoon cruising, water skiing, wakeboarding, tubing, sailing, kayaks, paddleboards — and on a busy summer weekend it's all happening at once. Slow-no-wake zones along the shoreline keep things sane near the docks.
