About Indian Lake

What people use Indian Lake for.

Indian Lake sits in northern Cass County, between Dowagiac and the Sister Lakes cluster. It's a mid-sized lake of around 510 acres with a public launch on the south end and a long-established cottage community around the rest of the shoreline.

The fishing is a steady draw. Largemouth and smallmouth bass, bluegill, crappie, walleye, and northern pike all show up in DNR surveys. Anglers who know the lake fish the weed lines for bass through the day and work the deeper basins for walleye in the early morning. Ice fishing is popular in winter.

For day rentals, Indian Lake handles a mix of activities — pontoons, tubing, kayaks, paddleboards. It tends to be quieter than the Sister Lakes on a busy weekend. We deliver pontoons to private docks anywhere on Indian and route from the launch when needed. Dowagiac is a five-minute drive for groceries and gas.
