About St. Joseph
St. Joseph is our home water — Lake Michigan at the mouth of the St. Joseph River, with a working harbor, two long piers, and a stretch of sand beach that runs north for miles. Most of our hourly rentals leave from our dock here at 2351 Niles Rd.
From the harbor you can stay in the river for a calmer ride, head out into Lake Michigan when the conditions are right, or split the difference and run the boundary where the river current meets the lake. There's plenty to look at — the lighthouses on the north and south piers, Silver Beach, and the bluffs above downtown St. Joseph.
For fishing, the river holds bass, perch, and trout, with salmon and steelhead pushing through in their seasons. Lake Michigan from St. Joseph harbor is the launch point for our fishing charters — salmon and trout in the warmer months, steelhead drift trips in the river through the cold ones.
After the boat, downtown St. Joseph is two blocks of waterfront restaurants, the Silver Beach Carousel, and shops along State Street. Easy to make a half-day on the water into a full day in town.
