About Green Lake

What people use Green Lake for.

Green Lake is in eastern Allegan County, near the village of Wayland. It's a mid-sized all-sports lake of around 280 acres, with depths reaching close to eighty feet — which is what gives it the clear, deep-water character locals know it for.

The fishing benefits from that depth. Largemouth and smallmouth bass, bluegill, crappie, and a healthy population of trout — Green is one of the few lakes in the area with stocked rainbow and brown trout. Walleye and pike round it out. Anglers who know the lake fish the deep basins for trout in summer and the weed lines for bass.

For day rentals, Green is forgiving — calm enough for kayaks and paddleboards, big enough for a pontoon cruise or some tubing. We deliver pontoons to private docks on Green. The drive from St. Joseph runs about an hour and twenty minutes, so it's typically a longer day or weekend rental.
